FIA FORMULA 1® World Championship Drivers’ Trophy, 1995

FIA FORMULA 1® World Championship Drivers’ Trophy, 1995

project overview

Awarded to the World Champion Driver annually at the FIA Gala, this trophy represents the highest accolade for a driver. Commissioned by Bernie Ecclestone in 1995, the brief for this iconic trophy was that it should last 100 years and feature retrospectively the signatures of all the winning drivers since the start of the championship. Starting with Giuseppe Farina in 1950, the list of world champions names and signatures flow in a spiral from the bottom of the trophy between victors’ laurels, with every revolution representing a decade of winners culminating in an enamelled globe. The base features a circle of vitreous enamel laurels, carved by Serena Fox and enamelled by Keith Seldon.
